The Fountains

The Fountains at Bayview Continuing Care Retirement Community in sunny  Punta Gorda is located in the defined growth corridor in Southwest Florida.  The 85-acre property is located right on the Gulf Coast, approximately 52 miles south of Sarasota and 23 miles north of Fort Meyers. Punta Gorda and the adjacent Port Charlotte, Florida were recently named among the “Best Places to Retire” by Money Magazine.  The rising demand for such communities is overwhelming, and the demographics will lead to rising demand as the baby boom generation retires.

The “Baby Boomers” born in the years following WWII are now in their late 60s and will soon begin turning 70 years old.  There simply are not enough high quality retirement and senior living facilities to meet the rising demographic demand.  Quality retirement communities and nursing homes already have long wait lists especially in Florida, as seniors look to escape the cold winters of the Northeast and Midwest.  Fountains at Bayview will provide a beautiful community for senior citizens to enjoy the sunset years of their lives.  Our community members will be literally able to watch the sun set to the west over the Gulf of Mexico each and every evening.  The Fountains at Bayview has permits in place to build the planned facilities including:

•    296 Independent Living units (one and two bedroom private apartments)
•    192 bed Assisted Living facility with nursing staff on call
•    616 bed nursing-home facility with a dedicated brain injury unit
•    20 bed in-service Hospice facility, and a
•    60 bed ambulatory facility.

Senior citizens that move into our independent living units are guaranteed “beds” in the assisted living or nursing home facilities should their health degenerate, thus alleviating the stressful questions worrying many seniors, “Where will I go if I need long term medical attention and how will I afford it?”

We will be building a State of the Art, LEED Certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Continuing Care Retirement Community, that will be the first of its kind in Charlotte County, Florida and one of the larger facilities in the country.  The concept of a “Continued Care Retirement Community” (CCRC) offers three distinct levels of care within the same community.  CCRCs provide all-inclusive care and service for the retirees, who may or may not require assistance in their day-to-day living, but want the security of knowing their needs will be met as they age and may need nursing assistance and medical care.

Charlotte County, Florida ranks second nationally and second in the state of Florida in the number of retired persons (Sumter County, Florida ranks #1). Charlotte county is anticipating a 39.7% increase in it  over 65 population by the year 2020.   The Fountains at Bayview will provide: 1) independent living, 2) assisted living, 3 intermediate and skilled nursing care in their nursing home facility, and 4) hospice care facilities.  The community guarantees its residents a transitional path to all phases of care while striving to help them maintain the current level of independence they enjoy.

The project owners have acquired all of the required Density Credits necessary to begin construction.
